The Offspring sell their entire catalog for $35 million

Billboard.com has reported that the New York-based music rights company Round Hill has bought the rights to much of The Offspring‘s back catalog for $35 million. The deal includes all of The Offspring’s recordings on Columbia Records, while Epitaph will retain ownership of their 1994 iconic album Smash and its predecessor Ignition. Billboard also reports that it is not known if the deal includes the European rights to their 1997 album Ixnay on the Hombre, which was released on Columbia worldwide, except Europe where it was distributed by Epitaph.

On the deal, frontman Dexter Holland commented, “We felt that having the right caretaker for our catalogue, both the masters and the publishing, is incredibly important to the future of our career. Round Hill understands that we are continuing to perform and record and that the visibility of our past is critical to our future.”

Other than one new song (“Coming for You“) last year, The Offspring haven’t released an album with new material since 2012′s Days Go By. The band is expected to release a new album this year.
