Today’s other premiere comes courtesy of Charlotte, NC’s Acne. ‘Misery’ is another one of the three-piece’s post-punky, poppy and anxiety-ridden slabs of goodness where they mix noise with melody in the best of ways. The song is taken off of their upcoming release, 'Superblasted,' which will be available on cassette and digital formats on April 5 via Self Aware Records (PREORDER)

About the song:

While writing Superblasted I started looking out at the world around me more than I ever had before, which I think was a reaction to the more introspective subjects I explored on our last release. Misery, like most of the EP, is a gloomy confession of my disappointment in other people. Individually, this track recognizes my own shortcomings in the relationships I share with those people.

Acne previously self-released ‘It’s Cool To Be Depressed’ in early 2018, debuting a tendency toward burying danceable melodies under blanket of sleepy distortion and introspective lyrics. On ‘Superblasted,’ Acne’s Self Aware Records debut, the band explores a brighter, more upbeat sound. This sickly-sweet sonic assault seems like the manic episode following last year’s gloom, but does not lack a familiar negative outlook.
