Did you cry when Crusades called it a day? I understand. I mean, who releases an album as good as ‘This Is A Sickness And Sickness Will End’ in 2017 and then breaks up barely a year later? Downright brutal.

And then there’s The Creeps, another Ottawa-based band that released one of my favorite albums of 2018 with ‘Beneath The Pines’. Seriously, if you haven’t checked that one out yet, do yourself a favor. It will make quarantaine seem like a breeze.

So why am I rambling about two Canadian bands that at first glance don’t have a lot in common? Well, because they both featured Jordy Bell on drums. And it’s that same Jordy Bell who has now announced his first solo release under the Oswald Park moniker.

Sure, a drummer with a solo project. I hear ya.

But honestly? We couldn’t be more excited to premiere the man’s excellent new single, ‘Come Back Around’. It’s an upbeat track that hits the sweet spot between pop-punk and power-pop a la The Rentals. Add some slick melodies and a killer chorus, and well... what’s not to like?

‘A Prescription Year’ will be out May 1 on all streaming platforms. Italy’s I Buy Records will be releasing a CD version, which will be distributed in the US via Mom’s Basement Records.
