"Cover My Ears" is the latest single from guitar slinging power-pop, indie-punk quartet TIME THIEVES. The track embodies the dissatisfaction of watching bad bands and bad people rise to the top of scenes and throughout the echelons of society itself, even when they display a complete lack of talent or sense of morality.
TIME THIEVES are a guitar driven power pop 4 piece formed in Chicago in 2015. Jonathan Pool (of Brickfight) and Mike Oberlin (of Sass Dragons, Rad Payoff) had for many years discussed forming a band based on power pop bands they loved. Having both played in many punk bands around the Chicago scene over the years, this project became an exercise in focusing on melody and the craft of song while still retaining the energy and emotion of their punk roots.
With the addition of Annie Saunders (of This Is My Fist!, Ambition Mission, BullNettle) and Tim Reynolds (of Hospital Job, Horrible Things) the band has a shared history of multiple decade’s worth of midwestern punk in one band that is decidedly not punk. Previous (and current) bands from these DIY lifers include: Sass Dragons, This is My Fist!, Ambition Mission, Brickfight, Hospital Job, Horrible Things and many more.
A culmination of four lifetime’s worth of experience, TIME THIEVES love of music performance and detailed focus on songcraft is signed, sealed and delivered into one perfectly crafted 25 minute set of bombastic energy that destroys the crowd, doesn't apologize for it, and then hustles their gear offstage well before the next band even has their hi-hat stand put together.
