Album Reviews

Put Groovie Ghoulies’ Kepi Ghoulie and the Copyrights together and what do you get? That’s right… Kepi Ghoulie & the Copyrights! They met up at the local graveyard to raise the dead but when that didn’t work out, they went ahead and re-recorded Groovie Ghoulies’ ‘Re-Animation Festival’ in its entirety.
The album, which originally came out in 1997 via Lookout! Records, comes with a dozen tracks worth of solid pop-punk that the Ghoulies are known for. Kepi has a real knack for combining poppy hooks, three chords he borrowed from the Ramones and horror-themed lyrics that deal with everything from zombies, haunted mansions and a famed Mexican monster. All this leads to friggin’ amazing songs like ‘Graveyard Girlfriend’, ‘Schools Out’ and ‘Evading The Greys’ that will make you bop your head in no time. These songs were already great to begin with, but with the help of the Copyrights Kepi’s pop-punk chops shine even more and will leave you with a ridiculously big smile plastered on your face for the rest of the day.
