I never heard of The Yawpers before this album. But considering I have been steadily drinking the Alt-Country Kool-Aid this year, it was only a matter of time before they reached my ears. That being said, I came to The Yawpers's "Human Question" with nothing more than the preconceived notion that they are considered a Cow Punk band based out of Denver. Believing The Yawpers are a group of white guys tucking their hair under a dusty felt hat while listening to Violent Femmes and Dead Milkmen, I could not have been more wrong.

The Yawpers's "Human Question" is more shoegazer, pedal-punk than mohawk cowboys (coined here first). With their groove-driven percussion and drone-y guitars, I had to keep checking that I was still listening to The Yawpers and not the latest Get Up Kids (check out "Child of Mercy" and "Human Questions" to know more). This Denver based band blends and bends musical genres all over "Human Questions" and it is delightful. The Yawpers are a trio of musical badasses, and I could not have been more excited to have heard this music for the first time.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
