Belgian punks The Priceduifkes are back! I doubt they ever thought they’d still be releasing albums in 2024 when they started out 20 years ago, fresh out of high school. Yet here they are, strong as ever and ready to go on tour in Japan.
Opening track ‘Dirty Dancing’ comes at you with the kind of melancholy-drenched punk of The Bouncing Souls, before the one-two punch of ‘The End Is Near’ and ‘The Demonisher’ finds the band stepping on the gas. Two songs that are guaranteed to create plenty of moshpit havoc. It’s party vibes galore with the pop-punk of ‘Pink Cloud,’ while ‘Hot Tub’ and ‘Little Old Beer Drinker, Me’ are rock ‘n roll tunes with additional country twang. Unexpected, but very enjoyable.
On the rest of the album, The Priceduifkes mostly stick to what they know best. ‘Send It’ comes with the kind of guitar riffs and backup vocals that Iron Chic perfected, ‘Your War’ is a pure rager that tackles you with hardcore fury and ‘What Is Love, Baby Don’t Hurt Me’ sends you off with a smile on your face.
No collaborations with artists that were discovered on TikTok or jumping on the post-punk bandwagon here. Just straight-up, unadulterated punk rock that is perfect for dancing dirty. Like you can hear at the end of the opening track, ‘nobody puts Priceduifkes in a corner.’ They are simpy too good to be anywhere else than onstage with all eyes on them.
