DC-based melodic punk band Celebration Summer is excited to announce the release of their brand new single, "Sea Shanty". The track offers a first glimpse into the band’s highly anticipated upcoming EP, A Little Less Numb, set to be released digitally and on vinyl this fall through Den of Wax Records. The official release date for the EP will be announced soon.
Recorded and produced by the legendary J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines, Government Issue) at The Magpie Cage Recording Studio in Baltimore, Md., the EP promises a blend of rich, high-energy punk melodies and introspective lyrics that define Celebration Summer’s unique sound. The EP was mastered by Dan Coutant at Sun Room Audio to bring the band's sonic vision to life.
Adding a special touch to "Sea Shanty" is Brendan Canty (Fugazi, Messthetics, Rites of Spring), who recorded his iconic ship’s bell that opens the track, setting the tone for a dynamic and stirring anthem.
To celebrate the release of "Sea Shanty," Celebration Summer will be performing a free show Sept. 27 in Reston, Va. The band will also be heading back into the studio next month to begin recording their next full-length LP, further cementing their place as a rising force in the punk scene. In addition, the band will be announcing EP release shows in New York and Washington, DC in the coming weeks.
Celebration Summer is a melodic punk band from Washington, DC, known for their powerful performances and evocative songwriting. Their sound bridges the gap between the introspective, emotionally charged lyrics of post-hardcore, 90’s emo, and the upbeat energy of melodic punk.
