Following the demise of Caskitt, main songwriter Matt Caskitt moved forward by starting Matt Caskitt & The Breaks. The San Diego based pop-punk band that is rounded out by Michael Kelly (guitar), Ricky Martinez (guitar), and AJ Peacox (bass guitar), is now back with ‘California Dream Hearse,’ the band’s second full-length.
No dreaded sophomore slump to be found here. What you do get are ten punchy pop-punk tunes that bounce around and pack plenty of melody without every becoming too sugary. Reflecting on life choices and the difference between where you are and where you desire to be, Matt Caskitt & The Breaks sing about love gained and friends lost, all the while making sure it isn’t all that hard for you to sing along and have an awesome time when they tear through your town.
