Naming your band after a Sicko song, is already a tell-tale sign that you have good taste. But does Denver, CO’s Bad Year have the songs to live up to those expectations? Well, they sure do!

On their new self-titled album (out now on Snappy Little Numbers), the four-piece pop punk band burns through ten songs worth of excellent pop-punk that made me think of Face To Face in the best of ways, but with the pop sensibilities of a band like Broadway Calls. Their mission statement? Reminding everyone that life’s challenges have a melody we can all sing along to. And there’s plenty of singing along to be done here… Picking favorites is next to impossible. There is no filler to be found on here and every single song is capable of turning even your shittiest day into something significantly better.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
