Alien Boy have returned! Portland, OR's loudest export are back with the announcement of their new full-length, You Wanna Fade?. Due out May 9th from Get Better Records, the album is made up of the most dynamic and powerful songs Alien Boy have ever released, each perfectly calibrated to knock you over with big guitars and big emotions.

Alien Boy have also shared the record's first single “Changes,” a massive cut of shimmering, fuzz-drenched guitars and earworm hooks that are sure to be stuck in your head after one listen. It's the perfect introduction to the ambitious songwriting on You Wanna Fade? and a reminder that Alien Boy are still one of the best bands in modern guitar music. Vocalist/guitarist Sonia Weber discussed the new song, saying, "Change is always hard for me, even when I know I need it. There’s more and more ghosts the older I get. This song's for trying to acknowledge the ghosts and grieving an old life."

You Wanna Fade? follows 2021's acclaimed Don't Know What I Am and finds Alien Boy digging deeper into all the best parts of the pop-rock-by-way-of-shoegaze sound. The album's widescreen scope was the result of a lengthy writing and recording process with numerous collaborators: first drums with Andy Rusinek; then guitars and bass with Phil Jones (Supercrush); and lastly the vocals and various overdubs by guitarist Caleb Misclevitz with help from Nathan Tucker (Strange Ranger, Cool Original, Pontiac Flare) who also provided additional production and instrumentation. The densely layered songs were finally handed over to Jack Shirely (Deafheaven, Gouge Away, Jeff Rosenstock) for mixing and mastering.

The result is an album that stretches Alien Boy’s sound in exciting new directions while also offering their most instantly satisfying songs to date. "I was looking at the records that I turn to the most–Third Eye Blind’s self-titled and Smashing Pumpkins’ Siamese Dream," Weber explains, "I really wanted to capture that kind of grandness, the kind of thing that has a lot of dimension and isn’t actually that concise.” And cutting through the towering arrangements are Weber's untouchable melodies and unabashedly longing lyrics that somehow imbue the most relatable feelings with a sense of earth-shattering stakes. You Wanna Fade? is a record that sounds huge and also feels huge.
