On their latest album “Threads”, these Minneapolis natives who have recently shortened their name from Now, Now Every Children to Now, Now manage to sound both cute and endearing as well as melancholic and even a bit gloomy.

Opener “” slowly drifts into being, but once they get going there’s no escaping. Their poppy shoegazer tunes slip in easily and after that there’s no getting rid of them. The hushed vocals come courtesy of Cacie Dalager who’s backed up by straight-forward yet atmospheric riffs and the relentless drumming of Bradley Hale. “Threads” is a consistenly strong offering but the song “Dead Oaks” really shows off what these girls and one guy have to offer… if Sofia Coppola needs a band to provide the soundtrack for her next movie, she doesn’t need to look any further than Now, Now.
