20+ Years in the game and Gary Meskil is still plenty pissed off. “Voice Of Rebellion” is already album number 15 for Pro-Pain and the band is still showing no signs of slowing down whatsoever. Still blending hardcore, punk and thrash, Meskil & co rage their way through 14 new songs that don’t offer anything new whatsoever and as a result sound decidedly Pro-Pain-like.

Take “No Fly Zone” for example. It starts off with a bit of rap that sounds remarkably like Ice-T’s contribution to 1994’s “Put The Lights Out” before finding its groove with a solid chugga chugga riff that they have patented. And then in comes Meskil venting at full force, before a thrashy guitar solo brings the whole song home.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that after more than two decades, the band has the formula down pat. But what is surprising is that I still haven’t grown tired of that formula. Songs like “Take It To The Grave” and the poetically named (well, at least compared to a song called “Fuck This Life”) “Bella Morte” hit harder than brass knuckles and should have no problem getting a one-man pit started in your living room.
