Album Reviews
Santa Rosa, CA’s Decent Criminal are one of the first signees to the recently formed Dodgeball Records along with the likes of Showoff and Attic Salt. Do yourself a favor and keep an eye on that label. They have good taste. Exhibit A? Decent Criminal’s new album, “Bloom”.
There is a whole bunch of stuff going on in these ten songs and almost all of it is good. Whether you are into 90ies punk rock, big power-pop hooks, surf or 90ies at-rock, Decent Criminal have got you covered. They especially impress on opener “Cold,” which sounds like the best pop-punk song Marked Men never got round to writing, the sheer power-pop goodness of “Still” or the Culture Abuse-like “Void”.
I had never heard of these guys before, but damn…this is a pleasant surprise. They might only be decent at being criminals, but as a band they are completely badasss.
