Album Reviews
Dayton, Ohio… not exactly a hotbed for punkrock. Nobody told The Raging Nathans though. Or maybe someone did and they just didn’t care. They went ahead and started cranking out badass pop-punk tunes in the key of The Dopamines, Dear Landlord and The Copyrights and haven’t looked back since. And why would they? Like empty beer cans, they are crushing it.
On ‘Cheap Fame’, the band’s second full-length, they race through 13 tracks filled with pounding drums, thumping basslines and the kind of distorted riffs that wouldn’t look out of place on an early Green Day release. Unlike Oasis, The Raging Nathans do look back in anger as they vent their pent up frustrations in glorious punkrock songs that beg to be sung along to. So raise those fists in the air and belt along with the one-two punch that is opening track ‘Dayton’ and ‘Teenage Amnesia’, single ‘B1505’ and the Gatorface-y ‘Brain Is Floating’. Among others. Because honestly, all of the songs on here pretty much rule.
