The third album from everyone's favorite East Bay Queerdos, Middle-Aged Queers
Middle-Aged Queers is an LGBTQ+ punk group on a mission to make punk music gay again. Featuring former members of The Cost, The Shondes, and Fang, they embody a spirit of defiant queer joy, performing at DIY venues and festivals across North America, including Punk Rock Bowling and Pouzza. Their third album, "Theatre of Shame," takes a more polished approach while retaining the grooves and catchy hooks queerdos and cis-hets have come to love. It features guest appearances from Anna Joy Springer of Blatz and Jeff Suffering from Ninety Pound Wuss, showcasing their connections to various generations of the punk scene.
You can now listen to “Glizzie’s Bangin’’,” their first single off their upcoming “Theatre of Shame” album (Sell the Heart / Engineer Records), which finds the band reflecting on the phenomenon of people attending their shows in bizarre costumes, specifically hot dog outfits.
The band writes:
“It started off at a show in Sacramento with a pair of friends in coordinated hot dog and mustard costumes, joined by a spattering of young people in clown makeup. A local tradition, perhaps? No. The phenomena followed us from coast to coast. And while the occasional banana or other food costume will make an appearance, a hot dog in the pit seems to be the most frequent sighting. We have no idea why. We prefer it to remain a mystery.”
