Fuck! It’s over… what am I going to watch now?

Since the beginning of Breaking Bad, there was always the question of how things would turn out for Walter White (Bryan Cranston) in the end. Would he get caught or would he get away with it? It seemed more likely that he’d get caught with his brother in law Hank Schrader being a DEA agent and with Hank catching on at the end of the first half of season five but still… The cool thing about these last eight episodes is that instead of stretching this storyline for too long, Hank and Walt go head to head right at the end of the first episode. Meanwhile Jesse (Aaron Paul) is struggling with his demons after the killing of the little boy by Todd (Jesse Plemons) and Skyler White (Anna Gunn) isn’t exactly a happy camper either when she sees her whole world crumbling down even further.

When it all finally goes down, it happens in a way that you did not see coming and it ties all the different storylines together perfectly. It makes Breaking Bad one of the most consistent series ever made and one that is so incredibly good from start to finish that it’s right up there with The Sopranos and The Wire. Actually, I think it’s even better. Series creator Vince Gilligan once said that the whole show was about turning Mr. Chips into Scarface and that’s exactly what he and his team did in the most brilliant of ways. Everyone who ever worked on Breaking Bad did an awesome job but most of all it is Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul who steal the show…. I mean, the only reason you can still feel some kind of empathy towards Walter is because of how good Cranston plays his role and the fact that Aaron Paul took a character that was meant to get killed off in the first season and managed to turn it into the heart of the series, is nothing short of spectacular.

Anyway, I’ve rambled enough here… if you haven’t seen this show by now because of how everyone else loves it, it’s your loss. For once it is okay to believe the hype. It really is that good all the way from the start to the ending, which couldn’t have been written any better.

So yeah… fuck! It’s over. What am I going to watch now?
