I know I have said this numerous times, but I love an E.P. An E.P. is sometimes a mixed bag of trial and error and status quo bending experimenting for a band, but Amber Lamps's latest is six solid rockers. "On The Lamb" opens with a great track with a melodic bassline, "Wanderlust." This track sets the tone of insightful yet playful lyrics, light but heavy guitars and a bass player that makes me want to play again.

It is hard to pick a favorite track when there are only 18 minutes on an album,  but "Catastrophe" is perfect. Yeah, I know saying a track is perfect is dumb, but I don't care. "Catastrophe" reminds me of a 90s punk song about a down-on-his-luck person trying to figure out the rest of the world (think Social Distortion's "Story of my Life").

Track listing:

  1. Wanderlust
  2. Catastrophe
  3. Trophy Beer
  4. This Just In
  5. Sola Catuli
  6. Hindered Spirits

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
