This is the first installment of “Everything Melts Eventually”, a new annual split series that will feature bands from the Broken Circles roster. All of these songs are brand spankin’ new and ‘tied together thematically under the umbrella of winter. They are Christmas songs for the people who don’t like Christmas’.

And it’s true. Other than Slow And Steady’s track, none of these songs have sleigh bells on them and I don’t think I heard the word ‘merry’ once. Which makes sense, because I didn’t feel merry either listening to to Nashville, TN’s Bandit’s slow-burning “Flake” or the dark, triphoppy lounge of Savannah, GA’s Triathalon (“On The Sofa”). Slightly more upbeat is Columbia, SC’s Ivadell, whose song “Dog Days” I like better than any of the ones on their recent full-length.

And then there’s Slow And Steady. Aka Jacob Lawter. While “Your Cold Heart” may not be quite as gripping as some of the songs that on “In Time We Belong”, it still serves as an excellent reminder that you need to pick up a copy of “In Time We Belong” as soon as possible if you haven’t already done so.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
