Album Reviews
Bridge Nine is not only home to some of the best hardcore bands around, they will just as well put out a lighthearted album like Candy Hearts’ “All The Ways You Let Me Down”. And why the hell not? You can’t be angry all the time, right?
Not that this album will be in my top 10 of the year… or even my top 50. Not that this female-fronted New Jersey pop-punk outfit is doing a sloppy job of bouncing all over the place with Mariel Loveland sounding as cute as ever. I just don’t care too much for Chad Gilbert’s (New Found Glory) production job. Whereas the band previously had something of a lo-fi vibe going on, Gilbert gave the songs some extra polishing that at times makes it all too sugary and does nothing but take away from the charm, leaving more candy than heart.
