Beloved singer/songwriter Rocky Votolato has a new band, Suzzallo, and their debut full-length is fast approaching! Arriving May 2nd, The Quiet Year is an explosive eulogy of fuzzed-out alternative rock that's as stirring and anthemic as it is intense and cathartic. Today Suzzallo are sharing one more early single, "Star String Radio."

After the devastating loss of his child in a tragic car accident, Votolato formed Suzzallo as a means of transmuting extreme grief into something healing. Votolato's solo career has primarily been defined by intimate, acoustic-based music, but Suzzallo swings hard in the other direction with a massive, guitar-driven sound. 

Votolato discussed the new song, saying:

"This song is about the portal that opens up between two worlds when you lose someone you love deeply.  My wife April and our child Kienan picked out a string of star lights for our deck the week before Kienan passed. It’s very strange and kind of mystical because we don’t ever remember placing the order, but somehow they still showed up at our house and we never figured out how. The lights never worked quite right and would flicker off and on at strange times. We thought they were faulty at first but then we started to notice them blinking off an on in erratic patterns when we would talk about Kienan. So it became our 'Star String Radio' to communicate with Kienan on the other side. That’s what inspired the song, it’s ultimately about connecting with the ones who have gone before us and finding a new language to keep that connection alive. Hope everyone can find some hope and healing in it like we did."
