Album Reviews
The Queers, McRackins, Screeching Weasel, The Mr. T Experience… they’ve all covered Ramones album in full in the past. And now we get to add DeeCracks and Andrea Manges to that list. Even though ‘Brain Drain’ packs Ramones classics in the form of the abovementioned ‘I Believe In Miracles’ and ‘Pet Sematary’, it may not be the most obvious album to cover. It’s certainly not the band’s best album. But it’s the one that made DeeCracks and Andrea Manges fall in love with one of punk’s most revered bands.
What’s the point of re-recording an entire album? Not really sure. Do you really need a reason to enjoy this though? As soon as you hear ‘I Believe In Miracles’, you know you are in for a treat. DeeCracks and Andrea Manges manage to stay true to the original songs, while also putting their own spin on things. I honestly enjoyed this one way more than I thought I would.
