Album Reviews
Following two EPs and a split with ‘their far more talented friends in Gulfer’, Del Paxton have now released their debut album, “All Day, Every Day, All Night”, a collection of material written between 2013-2015.
These dudes dish out a tasty mix of mid-90ies emo and pop-punk with additional math rock flourishes and are influenced by the likes of Polar Bear Club and Fire When Ready, bands they grew up listening to. While this is by no means a novel sound, Del Paxton manage to crank out tunes that sound incredibly smooth and fresh. Two terrible adjectives to describe music, yet they fit the bill here.
Songs like “Wrong Distance” and “In The Well” are contagious and sure to please fans of Polar Bear Club, Braid and Mock Orange. “Loose Leaf” is peppy beyond belief and “Koolwink” alone, which was shared ahead of the album release, is worth the purchase of “All Day, Every Day, All Night”.
Speaking of purchase, a portion of the album’s pre-order sales go to charities working to fight the Trump administration, like The Trevor Project, The NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Planned Parenthood!
The band might do their best to throw you off course with all the tempo changes, noodling riffs and unexpected twists and turns, but you are guaranteed to want to hang on for dear life.
