Hello indeed! Where the hell did these guys come from? Well, Portland apparently. On “Hello Hello” Divers come off like a punk band playing indie rock. Or an indie band playing punk. While being influenced by all those years spent listening to Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Elvis Costello. Sounds like a lot to mold into one cohesive sound, yet they make it sound like it’s the easiest thing in the world.

Whether they are going all out in songs like “Blood Song” and “Tracks” or if they aim for the quiet yet powerful in the awesome “Listen Teller”, “Great Escape” or the atmospheric “Last Dance”, you always get your money’s worth… which is kinda fitting considering “Hello Hello” tells the story of a couple of bank robbers driving across North America. And while the rest of the band certainly aren’t no chums, it’s vocalist Harrison Rapp that steals the show here with his gritty yet soulful vocals. I was getting more and more impressed with every passing song and just when I thought things couldn’t possibly get any better, the band pulls out all the stops and goes out in a blast with the glorious “Stateline”.

Whether you’re into Restorations, The Wallflowers, The Gaslight Anthem or any of the abovementioned bands… you simply need to check these guys out!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
