Having previously spent time in punk rock outfits The Boils and Protagonist, singer/songwriter Jeff Berman figured he’d have an equally good time with just an acoustic guitar and started Divided Heaven as an acoustic solo project. Since then however, Divided Heaven has turned into another full band affair and they now have a new release in the form of the “Pacific Avenue” EP.

The EP comes with six pop-punk clean-cut tunes that won’t offend anyone. “Pacific Avenue” starts off strong with “Scott #1”, an upbeat track with a solid chorus and a slight Sugarcult vibe. From there on, the songs stay upbeat and poppy. But while Berman sounds more and more like Green Day’s Billie Joe with every passing song, the initial excitement kinda wanes off.

There is nothing inherently wrong with the songs on offer, it’s just that they lack that something extra to make them stand out.

Track listing:

  1. Scott #1
  2. We
  3. Caught Dead
  4. Every Drop
  5. Bipartisanshit
  6. Mourning City, Bleeding Town

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
