Philadelphia’s Fire In The Radio have a new album out called “New Air”. I’m not sure if you can call it ‘new’ air, but these seven songs definitely feel like a breath of fresh air. Best described as indie-punk, these guys managed to put together a collection of songs that is downright amazeballs. Yeah, amazeballs.

Recorded with Steve Poponi at Gradwell House and mixed by Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung), “New Air” kicks off with the title track where the guitar immediately hits the right notes, before Richard Carbone, sounding like a cross between Bob Mould and Beach Slang’s James Alex, comes in and makes it official. I’m head over heels with this band.

The best thing about this release is that the title track isn’t even the best song on here. I would tell you which one is my favorite, but I still haven’t figured it out. You know how sometimes you like a certain song because it has a solid melodic hook or a sweet guitar lick? But then there are also these songs that hit you right in the feels and which are just drop dead gorgeous. Well, here’s seven of those.

Philadelphia has already offered us a shitload of great bands in recent years (Beach Slang, Modern Baseball, The Menzingers, Restorations, Hop Along, Cayetana,…) and with Fire In The Radio, it doesn’t look like they are running out of bands to swoon over anytime soon.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
