Four Fifty Eight is a new-ish band out of Belgium, whose members have previously spent time in bands like The Headshots and Dead Zero. I’m not sure what the band name stands for. It’s not their zip code and it’s not their combined age. But I do know that you would not be able to tell that this was their debut EP just by listening to it. These guys have got their shit together!

Opening track ‘Making Stories’ sounds like The Gaslight Anthem meeting up with The Penske File and comes equipped with all the ooh’s and aah’s you could ask for as well as packing a pretty sweet chorus. Other EP highlights come in the form of the supercharged ‘Adrenalina’, ‘Poor Donny’ and ‘Boby Bag’ which will make you think of bands like The Menzingers, The Loved Ones and Iron Chic.

So yes, they wear their influences on their sleeves and if you are into any of the abovementioned bands you should probably check these guys out. Not all of the songs on the EP are equally strong, but Four Fifty Eight is already a solid new addition to the Belgian punk rock scene.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
