NOLA's BRAT has today shared a cover of Heart's 1977 classic Barracuda, featuring Sammy Duet (Acid Bath, Goatwhore, ex-Crowbar), with an accompanying riotous music video. Barracuda arrives less than a year on from their debut album, Social Grace, and ahead of BRAT's forthcoming debut European and UK tour dates in support of Napalm Death with Crowbar and Full of Hell.
Of the track, the band comments: “We wanted to pay tribute to Heart as the original bad bitches of rock, and we thought the opening riff of Barracuda would sound great played even heavier. We’ve played the song live many times and people have really seemed to connect with it.”
2024 saw the New Orleans four-piece release Social Grace and head out on tour with Gwar and Brujeria, as well as play shows with the likes of Eyehategod, Terror and MDC, alongside hitting up festivals such as This Is Hardcore, New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, and Hopscotch. In tandem with their live activities, BRAT has promoted Social Grace with a series of idiosyncratic, highly on brand music videos, cementing them as the glitter covered darlings of Barbiegrind.
