Even though the Front Bottoms have been gaining notoriety ever since they started back in 2007, things really started picking up after the release of “Talon Of The Hawk” back in 2013. Now, two years later, they are ‘back on top’ with their new album.

These New Jersey natives have always been pretty friggin’ amazing at combining rock, punk, folk, indie and pop and know their way around a hook. That’s once again no different on “Back On Top”, which comes with eleven new ditties for you to nerd out over. Sure, you could complain about how they don’t sound as ‘raw’ as they used to, but seriously… these songs are just too much fun to complain about them.

From the ridiculously catchy melodies to the real-life stories that everybody can relate to and the trumpet that pops up every now and again, this album shows The Front Bottoms at the top of their game. Opening track “Motorcycle” immediately sets the mood. “Laugh Till I Cry”, “Historic Cemetery” and “2YL” are equally catchy and the Caribbean vibe that invades “The Plan (Fuck Jobs)” made me smile all the way until the singalong part in closing track “Plastic Flowers”.

If quirky pop jams are your thing, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of “Back On Top”!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
