There is a fine line between Lo-Fi Garage Rock, Surf Rock, and Psychedelic, but somehow Guantanamo Baywatch found it on their latest record, "Desert Center." Instead of the 'freak out' lo-fi sound of 2012's "Chest Crawl,"  "Desert Center" has a calm, nursing your fifth PBR vibe. Similar to the feeling one gets towards the end of the night of partying, Guantanamo Baywatch slows thing down and allows their vocals and 'guitar twang' to breathe a little.

This release highlights how Guantanamo Baywatch truly excels on their instrumental songs. Just like a remix of a great hip-hop song, Guantanamo Baywatch takes familiar sounds and melodies but updates them in a fun, psychedelic way. It is like the band is taking a slightly dangerous bent on a thing people like (I think I just figured out the meaning behind their name).
