Album Reviews
Just like Okkultokrati, Haust is part of the Black Hole Crew, some sort of collaborative effort between a couple of bands who don’t like to be pigeonholed. Recorded in one hour, Haust more than live up the title of the opening track, “Raw Material”.
With nine songs in half an hour, these guys aren’t about to waste any time. The band’s mix of rock ‘n roll and hardcore punk with black metal vocals sounds primitive and appropriately underproduced and while the vocals might take some getting used to, this is pretty decent stuff. Songs like “Swells” and “Death Drive” are as nasty as can be whereas the title track can even be called catchy.
“NO” is not the easiest album to get into and probably not for everybody, but spend some time with it and you’ll find that it might grow on you.
