After having toured with the likes of Midlake and Blitzen Trapper and being disovered by the Flaming Lips’ management, Oklahoma’s Horse Thief scored a deal with Bella Union who are now releasing the band’s debut, “Fear In Bliss”. Not too shabby, right? But if you have a listen to the album, it makes complete sense.

Packed with sweet guitar lines and sun-soaked melodies, the eleven tunes on “Fear In Bliss” are a pleasure to listen to. Horse Thief’s brand of alt-indie-psych-folk-rock sounds like the abovementioned Midlake with some Beach House thrown in alongside a bit of Band Of Horses. It’s catchy yet comes with some sharp edges, it’s youthful yet thoughtful… it’s a lot of things and more of than not, it’s all of those things in one and the same song. Add a cold beer and the sun shining in your face and you’re looking at a pretty good day if you ask me!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
