Album Reviews
Minnesota’s Household are back with a new album called “Time Spent”, which sees them getting rid of their debut’s harsher moments and landing somewhere on the poppy side of the post-hardcore spectre instead.
And while there’s definitely something to be said for this follow-up to 2014’s “With Or Without” with all of its abrupt rhythm changes, guitars that circle one another before lashing out and the kind of angsty yells that come with the genre, I can’t help but feel that it all sounds very much the same. Especially in the vocal department. Meanwhile the drummer sounds like he’s trying to make up for the monotony all on his own, sometimes completely hijacking the song. I’ll leave it up to you whether that’s a good thing or not.
Fans of Such Gold and Touché Amoré might want to give this a listen. For me, a couple of spins was enough time spent with Household’s latest.
