Gainesville’s best-known ska band has a new album out called “See The Light”, their first proper full-length in five years and ninth overall in their 21-year long existence. To answer a couple of questions that will no doubt pop up in your head right away…

Does it come with high-energy upstrokes? Yes, it does!

Do the new songs have horn parts? They sure do!

Do these guys still rock and write catchy melodies after all these years? Course they do!

Did they change their sound AGAIN? They sure… wait… what?!

A new Less Than Jake never comes with a lot (or any) surprises but contrary to other ska bands that have been around for a long time, these guys have always managed to stay relevant. That’s once again no different on “See The Light”. The songs on here sound as crispy and fresh as ever and it sounds like they’re having a blast writing new tunes. I can’t tell you whether that has anything to do with keeping things completely DIY this time around, but if you’re looking for some new songs to skank to then there’s no going wrong with “See The Light”.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
