Loose Planes is a new band consisting of members of Make Do And Mend and Fireworks that should have been called Make Fireworks And Mend. They just released their debut self-titled EP on 6131 Records and opener “Licking Cement” immediately tells us that this is a little different from what both bands normally churn out. Okay, I admit… maybe Make Fireworks And Mend would have given the wrong impression.

Basically, Loose Planes is an excuse for these guys to live out their 90s rock fantasies with four short grungy tunes that come with a nice Dinosaur Jr vibe. I’m seriously digging this and while none of the songs are immediately lodged in your brains, the guitars will keep your interest peaked throughout this EP’s duration. Next time I’m in the mood for some worshipping at the altar of 90s alternative rock, Loose Planes will definitely be in the playlist. Just a damn shame that this over so soon!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
