Started by Apart From This’ Tim Maxwell, The Bennies’ Craig Selak and The Smith Street Band’s Chris Cowburn, Loser is a new band with some not so new members. And you can tell these guys have some serious experience. I mean, they have only been a band since mid-July and have already released a 5-song EP a lot of other bands can only dream of.

Think of everything that was good about 90ies alternative rock with punky energy and grunge-y riffs to boot. And make everything from the melodies to the guitars and the vocal harmonies sound big. That’s ‘Restless Noise’ for you. Opening track ‘Phase Me’ immediately sees the band firing on all cylinders with a chorus that sounds instantly familiar. ‘Vacation’ sounds like Weezer meets Marcy Playground and ‘Loser’ is the kind of no-nonsense rock ‘n roll song we have come to expect from Aussie bands.

Five songs. Seventeen minutes. That’s all Loser need to make one hell of a first impression.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
