On their latest album “Heart Attack”, Man Overboard don’t change their formula. And why would they? They already have it down pat to write annoyingly slick pop-punk songs. Crunchy guitars? Check. Catchy choruses? Check. Bouncy rhythms? Check. Lyrics about girls? Check, check and double check.

Sure, all the songs sound alike but “Heart Attack” is nonetheless a fun album to listen to during a long drive on a summer day. Taking Back Sunday and Saves The Day are already nodding with full approval. I could go into great detail about each song but honestly… if you’ve heard one song by these guys, you’ve heard them all. And for once that’s not a criticism. Hopefully they’ll keep on defending pop-punk for years to come!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
