Secret Smoker is in fact so secret that I had never heard of them before, which is a shame because these Louisiana natives have a lot going for them that I am jealous of. For one, they’re from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Two, they know how to write sturdy 90s emo/hardcore tunes that tap from the same vein as Hoover, Sinker and all those other bands that howled about desperation like it’s all they knew. It’s a straight-up throwback but it’s a good one so who cares.
