Album Reviews
The Smoking Hearts don’t waste any time on their second full-length and kick things off in high gear. It’s all pure power and aggression with this London-based outfit as they race through 11 songs in 32 minutes. Opener “Off With Your Head” is fast as fuck and comes with ferocious barks, gang vocals and… oh wait, it’s already over. Next up is “Benedict”, which follows pretty much the same formula but with a clean-sung poppy chorus.
Basically, The Smoking Hearts sound like Gallows if they were a rock ‘n roll band with the party atmosphere and intensity of a band like Kvelertak. Normally on an album there’s always that one slow song … not here though. It’s all fast, loud and in your face and they’ll fire a guitar solo your way when they think you’re slacking off. It’s not bad but it gets kinda tiring after a while and overall I found it hard to keep up with “Victory!”.
