After having spent over two decades of recording and touring with their previous bands, the members of Suburban Eyes — Eric Richter (Christie Front Drive, Antarctica), Jeremy Gomez (Mineral, The Gloria Record), and John Anderson (Boys Life) — offer something that both finds them celebrating the emo scene they come from as well as finding them leaning back in indie rock sounds. If Dad Emo isn’t a thing yet, it should be. And that is a compliment.

Take previously released single ‘Headlight Torches. Propulsive thanks to the rhythm section, interwoven with shimmering and dreamy guitars and vocals and at the same time, it still manages to be poppy in the best of ways. There are a ton of bands out there at the moment that are playing shows which coincide with the anniversary of one of their classic albums. In the best case they are releasing new music as well that rivals their output from the past. While that’s all fine and dandy, it’s even more refreshing to see scene veterans evolving and trying their hand at something that while different, comes with equally rewarding results.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
