We Are The Union is a skapunk band… but wait, don’t run… the emphasis is on punk here. This Detroit-based outfit has more in common with the likes of Set Your Goals than Streetlight Manifesto or Reel Big Fish (yikes!).

On “You Can’t Hide The Sun” these guys keep up the pace on songs like “Dust On The Hourglass” and “I Want You To Hit Me As Hard As You Can” (if only Reel Big Fish had a song with that name), only injecting the ska parts when they complement the song rather than doing it simply because they feel they have to. It makes for a diverse, highly energetic and catchy album that’s not all that different from the always entertaining Less Than Jake.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
