Celebrity are an exciting new band hailing from Chicago/LA and today they've released their second EP, Automatic Changer. With an all-star lineup of musicians who play in bands like Militarie Gun, LURK, Knucklepuck, Inclination, Harm's Way, Weekend Nachos, and more, it might be something of an understatement to say Celebrity know a thing or two about making loud music. But while fans of the members' other work will certainly find a lot to enjoy, Celebrity is its own animal: wiry post-punk riffing bathed in distortion, all while razor sharp hooks cut right through the noise.

To celebrate the EP's release Celebrity have also shared a music video for opening track "Wildflower." It's the perfect introduction to the band's sound and energy, flying out of the speakers like Jonathan Richman fronting Sonic Youth.

Celebrity began in 2020 when the members (vocalist/guitarist Kevin Kiley, drummer Drew Brown, guitarist Kevin Maida, and bassist Chris Mills) found themselves with a lot more time off the road from their main bands. After releasing a self-titled EP in 2022 the group kept writing and eventually convened in Kiley's basement to self-record Automatic Changer with the guidance of Chicago studio wizard Andy Nelson (Ingrown, Pain of Truth, Fireworks, Jesus Piece) who then mixed the songs into a highly effective amalgam of noise and nuance. The EP's four songs sprung from the creative freedom of making something yourself from scratch, and lyrically they explore a similar desire to be unburdened by life's anxieties and dive into the unknown. "There have been times in my life where I want to get into something new and want to make a leap, but it’s hard to sacrifice time and your comfort," Kiley explains. "Whether it’s with releasing art, taking a new opportunity, or whatever is at your fingertips, just do the thing. Release those songs, share something you made, take the new job, say hi to someone new. Life is short."
