Orlando's Debt Neglector are celebrating the release of their brand new EP The Kids are Pissed via Smartpunk Records. To continue, in the spirit of the midterm elections, the band has covered The Clash with the infamous hit, "I'm So Bored With The U.S.A".
Alex Goldfarb about the cover and what it means to them:
"We decided to cover this song for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the Clash rip. They have always stuck out to me as the "right way" to do punk rock. None of this "punk is meant to be offensive" trash. It's socially conscious. Joe Strummer was smart and he spoke for the less fortunate and you could tell that his heart was really behind it. He's one of those larger than life characters that only come around once or twice in a generation. Secondly, the song is great and I think has aged really well to represent what's going on in America today. It deals with violence and the constant outpouring of bad news that we've come to expect from our country. It can be desensitizing watching all the stories unfold day after day of another shooting or another hate crime. It would be nice to have something to be excited about in the upcoming midterms, but for now we're just exhausted by all the bad news."
