Borders couldn't stop US/Switzerland co-op Discomfort Creature ( featuring members of The Gamits, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Sound Collapse and lots of other bands) from creating one hell of an album! The band self-released their self-titled debut back in 2021 (check out our review), and now it is getting the vinyl release it deserves thanks to our buds over at Monster Zero Records (pre-order) and Bearded Punk Records (pre-order). And to make things even sweeter, the album comes with three bonus tracks. Today, we are premiering the video for one of those songs. The song is called 'Frozen Out' and it's an absolute killer version of the track that was originally written and performed by David Hernandez and Scared of Chaka. Discomfort Creature also has some Euro dates coming up next month. Find the full dates below.
"It was a no brainer for us to cover," says the band. "When Dan and I started talking about what kind of band we could pull off together I remember saying something like “Let’s just write fast garage punk like Scared of Chaka or something.” We both loved and played with that band many years ago and they were an influence on our bands at the time so we had that kind of vibe in common. This song is one of their best, we think, and we wanted to first, not ruin it, and second, try to make it sound a little more like a DC song. Of course their version is super raw and perfectly imperfect while ours is a little more polished and we added some extra layers and a twangy guitar solo and stuff. It’s super fun to play. Go check out SOC if you missed that boat and expect our new vinyl out this summer on Bearded Punk / Monster Zero!"
