While Seattle may no longer be the same city as the one whose name was mentioned in awe by flannel-clad youngsters all around the world some 30 years ago, there is still new talent out there. Latest case in point: Monsterwatch, a trio of noisemongers who have just announced a new riff-laden EP called ‘Noise You Will Never Care About’ (artwork + track listing below). The EP won’t be out until June 11, but we are very excited to share the video for new single ‘Somewhere’ today.

it only takes the band about 30 seconds to set the stage with an ominous intro, before completely destroying it over the remaining two and a half minutes. Pounding you over the head with heavy as f--- drums and a riff so jagged you can slit someone’s throat with it, the only thing that could possibly make this song even more claustrophobic and uncomfortable are maniacally howled, haunting vocals that reek of despair. Oh no, wait... there they are.

Pretty it ain’t, but damned if this isn’t the kick up the ass that 2021 needs.

About the song and the video: “Somewhere” is the finale to the continuous three track EP 'Noise You Will Never Care About'. The song is about realizing certain things you're unhappy with in your life, Or bad habits within yourself, but somehow always getting pulled back into them. The video came to fruition when we went to Screwdriver Bar (in the Barnes Building in Belltwon, Seattle) to check out the location and get some ideas. The owner showed us some abandoned lofts up above and it really opened up our options for the video. Without those lofts the video definitely wouldn't have come out as creepy and dark as we intended."

And about the EP: "We recorded the EP back in September, 2020.  The idea was to make the three songs one continuous track and experimenting with guitar feedback and certain pedals to create some chaotic sounds as the lead in between each song. We recorded at Mothership Studios at Alma Mater in Tacoma, WA.  We tracked all three songs live and ended up using the first take as the final. We tried maybe 5 or 6 times, but realized the first take was the most raw sounding."

Monsterwatch will be performing at Treefort Music Festival and Freakout Festival this fall.
