Bicoastal indie rockers NEAR BEER are back with another surprise single. Check out our exclusive premiere of “Bob Song”, out via Double Helix Records tomorrow..

Following the spring 2024 release of two new singles—"Your Favorite Band" and "Al Pacino", which featured their first studio recordings as an expanded five-piece band, and the 2022 release of their self-titled debut album, all out on Double Helix Records, NEAR BEER are releasing two brand-new singles—"Pax Americana" and "Bob Song"—in advance of their direct support dates on the Midwest leg of The Airborne Toxic Event’s national tour in October.

Speaking on the track, Joey Siara (vocalist/guitarist/songwriter) said:

“I wrote this tune loosely about my grandpa, who passed away two years ago. His name was Bob and I really loved the guy. I say ‘loosely’ because there are little flourishes and stream-of-conscious bits that stray from a tight bio. But it all was written in the couple of days after his funeral. There were so many people who gave all of these incredibly moving speeches about him and his impact on their lives. Bob was a teacher and just a very likable, peaceful dude, full of empathy for his fellow humans. It's impossible to capture the magnitude of a person in a funeral speech, let alone in a 3-minute rock song, but whatever, it's an impressionistic little snapshot of how I was feeling about a guy who's had an outsized impact on how I think.”
