We are happy to premiere 'I Don't Like The Beatles,' the new single by Colorado disruptors Townies, a mostly unknown band from a mostly unknown town (Trinidad in very southern Colorado, population about 8500). Honestly, I don't know how you can not like the Beatles, but I'm definitely digging Townies' sound as well. These guys take it all the way to the likes of The Avengers, The Cramps, Dead Kennedys, The Dead Milkmen, Circle Jerks, Fear, Suicidal Tendencies, X and Pixies. What's not to like?
"In a nutshell, we wrote this song because how can the world's most popular rock band ever have basically spent their careers leading up to stuff like goddamn 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer?'," says the band. "Not to mention all that 'catch you with another man blah blah run for your life' business. We wrote it because what cathartic release to call John Lennon a 'chode.' And geez, we get it about the Beatles already. How much more can we possibly take?!"
To this day, this four-piece has played a whopping total of four live shows together. But that was all that was needed for them to get signed by renowned boutique Denver-based record label Snappy Little Numbers, who will be releasing the band's debut full-length album, 'Meet the Townies!,' on June 24th, 2022. It was engineered by the band and pal Mike Clark (of Mike Clark & The Sugar Sounds fame) and mastered by the legendary John Baldwin.
You can pre-order 'Meet The Townies!' via the band's Bandcamp page , Snappy Little Numbers' Bandcamp page or web store.
