LA rock band The Pretty Flowers have released “Hit Nothing,” the new single off their upcoming full-length ‘A Company Sleeve,' out July 14th via Double Helix Records (pre-order).

“’Hit Nothing’ was inspired by Julian Cope’s (The Teardrop Explodes) music, writing and heroic psychedelic explorations, vividly documented in his two autobiographies, Head-On and Repossessed. The lyrics of ‘Hit Nothing’ were written on walks around my LA neighborhood, mostly daydreaming about what it would be like for our band to exist in a completely different era, imagining a record company’s pressure on a band like ours to write a hit new wave song in the early-80s. ‘Hit Nothing’ is sort of the idea of that song and the song itself,” says songwriter and TPF front man Noah Green. The single will be followed by a video in upcoming weeks.

The Pretty Flowers are a four-piece indie rock band from Los Angeles composed of Noah Green (vocals/guitar), Jake Gideon (guitar/vocals), Sam Tiger (bass/vocals) and Sean Johnson (drums). Their music has been described as hooky, heartfelt and literate. The band's influences span more than a few decades of loud guitar indie and college rock, including: Guided By Voices, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, Superchunk, and Teenage Fanclub.

2023 has found the band on a west coast tour of the US with The Roxies from Berlin, Germany and the release of their sophomore album, A Company Sleeve, on their new label, Double Helix Records. The album was produced by the band’s own Jake Gideon, engineered by Adam Lasus (Lily’s, Yo La Tengo, Madder Rose and Helium) at Studio Red and mastered by Matthew Barnhart (Superchunk, Bob Mould, METZ).
