We are happy to premiere Moonraker's new video for the song 'War Were Declared'. It's the latest song to be taken off of their sophomore LP, 'Lanterns,' which is out now via Seattle’s Tiny Dragon Music.
Drummer/Vocalist David Green about the video:
“When we came up with the idea for this video, I was a little worried that Nick might secretly have some Bobby Fisher moves. In the end it turned out we were sort of evenly matched (even though one of us CLEARLY had a little more than the other, haha). Our friend Adam Thomas did a great job shooting and editing this. All of it is real and none of what happened was planned, although we all sort of had a hunch about how it might play out."
Santa Clarita, CA’s Moonraker has been working their way up the DIY ladder for the last decade or so. Fall of 2016 saw the release of their debut LP, Fail Better, on Felony Records. On September 14th, Moonraker released their sophomore effort, Lanterns, which is a concept album of sorts. The first and last songs of the record exist as the intro and outro while also framing the inner nine songs which are each based off of one of the nine different emotions that power the nine different Lantern Corps in the Green Lantern comics.
Green states, “I know that it sounds super nerdy, but that was the basis of how the writing for the album happened. The songs are not about anything from Green Lantern specifically. But they’re super personal and we used each particular emotion as the backbone for each song and then wrote the song around it.”
