Toronto’s Dragged is a hardcore band featuring current and former members of Brutal Youth, End Program and Deadmouth. They previously released two EPs and have now stepped up their game with the release of their debut full-length, aptly titled ‘L.P. I’.
On the album, they rage their way through thirteen tracks in a little over half an hour with what they themselves describe as a distinguishing blend of hardcore punk, stoner metal, and thrash riffs slathered in ranch. And that’s actually a pretty accurate description. Dragged In definitely offers all the hardcore punk energy you can ask for, but not in a chugga-chugga kinda way. Think of a mix between ‘Black Sails In The Sunset’ era AFI and Paint It Black with maybe some ‘Black Thunder’ era Doomriders thrown in for good measure.
Opening track ‘Unsinkable’ starts things off with a short and ominous intro before racing off and leaving you in the dust. They keep up the blistering pace with ‘No Surrender’ and ‘Going Under’, strut their stuff on ‘Invisible’ and get downright sludgy on ‘See Through’ and end things with the almost epic-sounding ‘Blackest Moments’.
